Optofluidics, Inc. has an opening for a Nano-biotech Applications Engineer/Scientist with a background in life sciences, physics, engineering or comparable field. The successful candidate will work within a technical team in order to test and develop new and cutting edge applications for our Molecular NanoTweezer system (http://www.opfluid.com/products/). This system will be used to control and measure nanoparticles using a variety of analytical methods. Starting salary and benefits will be competitive.
Test new applications concerning the capture and analysis of nanoparticles including biological (proteins, viruses, liposomes, etc.) and non-biological (plastic, Qdots, gold dots, etc.) Design and construct new research and measurement platforms (spectroscopy, optical sensors) Produce designs that meet performance, cost, and manufacturability goals Produce high quality technical documentationDesired Skills & ExperienceRequirements
Must be an experienced experimentalist A background in a broad range of analysis and characterization techniques (e.g. spectroscopy, DLS, chromatography, electrophoresis, NMR, mass spec) Must be able to acquire, process, interpret and clearly communicate data Must have experience in building instrumentation and putting together laboratory equipment Minimum two years industry or academic research experience in a relevant field BS or Masters degree in Bioengineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field
